Dunnage Bags by X-Pak: Elevate Cargo Safety and Efficiency with our Woven Inflatable Solutions – Secure, Reliable, and Environmentally Friendly.
Safeguarding your goods during transportation is paramount. Beyond traditional load restraint methods like timber bracing, strapping, and lashing, one aspect significantly influences cargo safety: the inflatable dunnage bag. Dunnage bags, also known as inflatable dunnage bags or dunnage air bags, are inflatable devices placed between freighted items, playing a crucial role in preventing movement during transit. They absorb shock, prevent vibrations, and ensure stable cargo arrival. Dunnage bags are inflated to high pressure, filling gaps in containers and bracing the cargo. When not in use, dunnage bags are deflated, making them space-efficient and lightweight. Minimise shipping damage and ensure your load is stabilised with X-Pak’s Inflatable Dunnage Bags. Offering outstanding load-stabilising capacity, our dunnage bags can withstand significant pressure, resist load shifting, and are reusable, making them a cost-effective investment to safeguard your products.
Our woven dunnage bags are constructed from 100% woven material ethically sourced. We supply the Australian market with Level 0 through to Level 5 bags, as well as many custom solutions. Providing the correct solution for your unique requirements is important. At times this can mean a specific size may be required, and we work closely with our factory to manufacture bespoke solutions. We have a large focus on quality control – 10% of our level one bags are pressure tested and all bags from level two upwards undergo a 19-day pressure and burst test before they enter the market.
We have a range of different-sized Dunnage Bags to meet your needs, including dual bags. The Dual Bag system has been developed to fill voids between cargo greater than 400mm. Dual Bags are certified and an ideal alternative to timber dunnage framing. They are a light and cost-effective way to fill large voids and can be custom-made for your requirements.
A variety of sizes are available for various applications. A dunnage bag will perform best with maximum surface coverage on your product without protruding above the products or touching the floor. Bags protruding above product, in most cases, will ‘wriggle’ themselves upwards during transit, therefore rendering themselves ineffective and compromising your load.
X-Pak’s portable Inflate-X Pro unit is a unique, air inflation tool for our range of bags. The Inflate-X Pro is a first of its kind. With a 6000mAh rechargeable lithium-ion battery, it has a continuous run time which can inflate up to 80-bags in one session. The Inflate-X Pro puts out an extremely powerful 28 Cubic feet per minute, which is a much higher output compared to most air compressors.
X-Pak’s portable Inflate-X Ultimate unit is an advanced digital air inflation tool for our range of dunnage bags. As the evolution of the Inflate-X Pro, it is designed for operations requiring faster inflation speed and precise pressure control. Featuring a calibrated digital display, the Ultimate allows operators to view both set and actual pressure during inflation, ensuring consistent results across every container load.
This inflation tool simply plugs into an air compressor hose or airline. It has a digital gauge to enable you to set the required pressure in your dunnage bags where required. The inflator comes with a system where it will shut off additional inflation when the set pressure is reached. Consistent inflation: Set your desired pressure every time. Can be used as a standard inflator (no set pressure). Light weight and robust design.

These are the most commonly asked questions. Here’s everything you need to know about how our products work in your industry.
Dunnage bags are typically made of layers of kraft paper or polyethylene with an inner layer of an inflatable plastic bladder. The materials used are chosen for their strength, flexibility, and ability to resist punctures.
The X-Pak range of dunnage bags contains 8% of recycled material. As we are the only vertically integrated manufacturer, we are continually looking at ways to reduce the use of virgin material in our bags, without compromising on quality.
Yes. Our dunnage bags are re-useable up to several times if in good condition. Our valve allows for simple deflation so they can be re-used. Wherever you have a ‘closed loop’ supply chain, we always suggest implementing the recyclability and re-use of dunnage bags.
The size of the dunnage bag depends on the void space between the cargo and the walls of the container. Measure the gaps accurately and choose a dunnage bag that can fill those voids when properly inflated. X-Pak can come to your site and conduct a free assessment to ecommend the best size bags for your cargo.
No. There are generally 5 or so different types of dunnage bag valves on the Australian market, each depending on the manufacturer. Some of the more common valves are interchangeable. If in doubt, contact X-Pak today to find out if your bags or inflation tools will fit an existing setup.
Although this is a common way to fill the void at the end of a container (between your product at the doors), from a load-restraint perspective, it’s not recommended. The main reason being due to the rating of dunnage bags not typically able to withstand the full force of a significant load shift in transit. To fill a large gap at the container doors, we’d suggest a container tarp or form of rated lashing system.
Yes, there are different types of dunnage bags designed for specific applications. For example, there are single or dual bags of different sizes, each addressing different void spaces within a container.
Typically, in one of two ways. Firstly, the traditional method of inflation is an air compressor. We provide gauged inflators that fit onto an air hose and can inflate container bags to a set pressure. The other alternative is a Portable Inflation or battery powered unit (like our Portable Air Master PAM). These are a fast, easy way to inflate your container airbags.
Dunnage bags range from a Level 0 dunnage bag right through to a Level 5 bag. Using the correct bag for your products and in the correct manner can help secure loads up to 30 tons inside a container. In almost every case, airbag failures or bursting is from using an incorrect product or a poor quality bag.
Yes, depending on minimum volumes and your specific requirements. There are situations where you may have an odd shaped product or large void to fill, for example, where you will require a specifically manufactured dunnage bag. The expert team at X-Pak will willingly be able to assist you, no matter the void you’re hoping to fill.
A dunnage bag can secure a load up to 30tonne.
The PAM inflates an average 80-90 dunnage bags per battery charge.
No – the PAM unit will inflate to a maximum of 1.2 PSI.
No
The Portable Air Master (PAM) units are designed to be used exclusively with X-Pak bags.
Yes when using a compressor, however you can never over inflate a dunnage bag when
using a Portable Air Master (PAM) unit.
Yes, they can however adequate protection needs to be used such as a core flute sheet in between the dunnage bag and sharp edge if necessary.
