Load Performance Testing

Flat Rack via Road
Ensuring the appropriate utilisation of load restraints is paramount when transporting large and heavy loads. Effective restraint systems not only safeguard cargo but also ensure the safety of personnel and equipment throughout the transportation process. By adhering to proper restraint protocols, DSI Underground upholds its commitment to operational excellence and safety, mitigating risks and ensuring smooth and secure transport operations for its valuable cargo. To ensure DSI’s loads were compliant with the highest standard of safety during transport, X-Pak Global attended their site in April 2024 to test their load restraint products and methodology, and to help them ensure their loads met the NHVR Performance Standards. DSI Underground’s loads were subjected to testing following the specified Tilting methodology, which included simulating forces of 0.8 ‘g’ and 0.5 ‘g’ and tilt angles of 53° and 30°. The testing conducted aimed to assess the restraint capabilities of DSI’s mining bolts products. The vehicle was lifted by crane and tilted and the load placed to simulate road shocks and vibration. Below is a summary of the testing methods and findings:
  1. Tested with the vehicle tilted sideways at 30° with load stacked and restrained
  2. Tested with the vehicle tilted endways at 53° with load stacked and restrained

Load 1: 20.63 Tonne Net Weight

16 Tonne Net Weight

Load 2: 16 Tonne Net Weight

20 Tonne Net Weight

Testing Results

The testing aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of restraints for various load scenarios and provided guidelines for maximum deflection to ensure safe transportation. The results demonstrated success meeting the NHVR performance standards with the implementation of X-Pak Global restraints.
